Kinetic Dissipation

Kinetic Dissipation is my exploration of how energy moves, changes, and ultimately fades. Inspired by the concept of entropy—the gradual loss of energy—I thought about how we experience this in music: sometimes energy dissipates like a soft breeze, and other times it crashes and vanishes instantly, leaving behind an eerie stillness.
Writing this for solo harp felt natural. Plucking the strings transforms physical motion into sound, which reverberates and inevitably fades into silence—a process that feels both fleeting and infinite. The piece moves between frantic, intense moments where energy almost gets away from you and slower, quieter passages where it lingers just a little longer before slipping away. Through these contrasts, I wanted to capture the unpredictable ways energy moves and transforms through time and space.
